Pole-mounted transformers bring 11, 13.8, 22 or 33 kV overhead distribution down to 120/240 V, 230/400 V or 277/480 V at the point of use. MARS supplies single-phase units from 5 to 167 kVA and three-phase units from 25 to 500 kVA, in IEC and ANSI/IEEE C57.12.20 designs, with conventional or completely self-protected (CSP) construction including an internal fuse, secondary breaker and lightning arrester.
See single-phase vs three-phase for rural electrification and a representative 11 kV rural configuration.
A completely self-protected transformer includes an internal primary fuse, a secondary circuit breaker and a lightning arrester mounted on the tank, so no separate cut-out or arrester is needed on the pole. It simplifies installation and reduces outage time on rural feeders.
Single-phase units are cheaper per kVA at small sizes and can be clustered later; three-phase units are needed where motors above about 5 kW, pumps or workshops are expected. Many utilities use single-phase for residential feeders and three-phase for commercial loads.
Yes — 7.2/12.47 kV, 7.97/13.8 kV and 19.9/34.5 kV single-phase and 13.8 / 34.5 kV three-phase units to IEEE C57.12.20 with 95–150 kV BIL, for Latin America, the Caribbean and the Philippines.
A three-phase 100 kVA 11/0.4 kV unit weighs typically 500–650 kg oil-filled; a single-phase 50 kVA unit around 300 kg. Weights are stated on each product page and confirmed on the approval drawing for pole-loading checks.
